VR Environments

You can’t create a VR environment with HTML, JavaScript and CSS. Therefor, we were learned to create environments in Unreal Engine that can be used as a VR environment.

Assignments

We built enviroments in Unreal Engine and we projection mapped Styrofoam.

Unreal Engine

This assignment consists of two parts. In the first we learned to use movement, materials and textures to create a turntable with a banana in 3D. Then we proceded to the next part of the assignment where we made a small game that where you can collect banana's as a red cube. I basically followed every step and made it work.

This assignment introduced me to Unreal Engine. We followed this online course. As a bonus I rotated the banana to make it look like it was really laying on a turn table.

Banana Collector

In this excercise I learned more about blueprints in Unreal Engine using this online course. I've added some more walls and changed their color to blue. I also added a function that made the cube faster after eating each banana.

Spatial Augmented Reality

We learned to projection map images on Styrofoam using a program called Mad Mapper.

Mad Mapper

I projected some graphics on a Styrofoam structure I build. I really struggled with the program; the controls were way different than similar programs. It also was very buggy and even crashed a couple of times. My laptop can handle rendering and other graphics card intense processes just fine so that can't be it.

Mad Mapper reacting to music

Some of the graphics used the microphone of my laptop to react to the music.

Projection mapping in Rouen France

I was in Rouen in 2015 and this workshop reminded me to the light show on the cathedral I widnessed there. I filmed a little piece of the show, because I was very impressed at the time.
